Sustainability Consulting for the Maritime and Yachting Sector
The maritime and yachting sector doesn’t need more generic consultants. It needs sustainability consulting built from the inside — by people who know the difference between a composite hull and an aluminium one. And understand what product life cycle really means. By the team that developed the world’s first PCR for yachting. That works with Fincantieri and the small racing rope supplier with the same rigor.
Every service we offer starts from a non-negotiable premise: sustainability is not a cost. It’s an asset (Sustainability As An Asset). Our work is to help you build it — with verifiable data, tools that remain yours, and capabilities that create no dependency. We believe consulting is a catalyst for complexity in innovation challenges.
The drop that turns sustainability into value.
Where does your challenge begin?
Most clients come to us with an external request: a questionnaire to fill in, a buyer asking for product data, a regulatory deadline closing in. Some reach us with an ambition: to use sustainability to open new markets, differentiate, build something structural.
IN BOTH CASES, THE JOURNEY FOLLOWS A LOGIC
MEASURE → DESIGN → VALORIZE
You can stop at the first step. Or build everything else on top of it. The path is yours to decide.
1
Measure your impact: Life Cycle Assessment, Carbon Footprint and GHG Consulting
Understanding your impact before others ask you to.
Our main client asked us for emissions data. We don’t know where to start.
This is the most common request we receive. It comes from maritime supply chain suppliers, from shipyards receiving questionnaires from their buyers, from shipowners dealing with EU ETS and FuelEU. The problem isn’t willingness — it’s that no one has ever done this before, no one knows exactly what’s needed, and every time you ask someone you get a different answer.
Strategically implementing Life Cycle Assessment within R&D teams, or more effectively, integrating it into organizational processes, will enable integrated supply chain management and product optimization for eco-design purposes.
SEA InnovHub’s measurement services produce defensible data, built with internationally recognized scientific methodologies, open, verifiable, and internally transferable.
Not shelf reports: tools you actually use.

Corporate Carbon Footprint
(GHG Inventory)
Full analysis of the organisation’s greenhouse gas emissions: Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (purchased energy), Scope 3 (supply chain). This is the service that answers the most common question in the maritime supply chain:
“how much does your company emit?”
Data collection involves all company functions that already manage relevant information: production, procurement, logistics, energy management. The process is formative by design: at the end of the project, your team can read the data — not just receive it.
What you get: GHG Protocol Report · Emissions hotspot analysis · Open and independently updatable calculation model
Standards: GHG Protocol Corporate Standard · ISO 14064-1 · Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) · EU ETS
Optional: Support for ISO 14064-1 certification under accreditation

O-LCA: Organisational Life Cycle Assessment
When Carbon Footprint isn’t enough. The O-LCA evaluates the environmental impact of the entire organization using the same methodologies applied to products — integrating process flows, procurement, outputs. It provides a systemic view that a GHG inventory alone cannot deliver.
Particularly useful for companies that need to meet advanced ESG requirements from institutional investors, or for those who want to build a complete baseline before setting a Sustainability Roadmap.
What you get: Full O-LCA Report · Hotspot analysis · Open and independently updatable calculation model
Standards: ISO 14040/14044 · ISO 14072 (O-LCA)

LCA Short Study
A rapid assessment of the environmental impacts of a product or component. Without the full LCA report, but with a complete presentation of assumptions and results. Designed to answer a specific need: evaluating alternative eco-design scenarios, comparing materials, producing the data your B2B client needs within a real deadline.
It’s often the right first step: lower cost, faster completion, and it produces exactly the data needed — no more, no less. You can always decide later to complete the study by adding full reporting and detailed results analysis.
What you get: LCA Results · Comparison of alternative scenarios · Open and independently updatable calculation model
Standards: ISO 14040/14044 · Sector-specific PCR

Full Product LCA
Complete LCA study meeting all regulatory requirements for certification. Includes primary data collection on-site, workshops with the technical team, modeling, and critical review. Applicable to vessels, maritime components, composite materials, and complex assemblies.
The process is open by design: you see the data used, the assumptions made, the calculations. You receive the file and can reopen it independently. Not a black box — a transferable asset within your organization.
Our team of life cycle assessment consultants at SEA InnovHub helps maritime and yachting sector to transform complex LCA results into a long-term strategic advantage.
What you get: Certifiable LCA Report · Open and independently updatable calculation model · Strategic interpretation of results
Standards: ISO 14040/14044 · Sector-specific PCR

Product Carbon Footprint (PCF)
Calculation of the carbon footprint of a single product or service. Specifically designed to respond to supply chain requests — when your shipyard client asks for Scope 3 data on the component you supply, this is the tool.
What you get: Certifiable PCF Report · Open and independently updatable calculation model · Strategic interpretation of results
Standards: ISO 14067 · GHG Protocol Product Standard

OEF: Organisation Environmental Footprint
Analysis of the organisation’s environmental footprint according to the EU OEF/PEF framework — the standardized system from the European Commission that enables comparable assessments across companies in the same sector. Unlike a GHG inventory, OEF covers 16 environmental impact categories using EF 3.1 characterisation factors.
Useful for companies positioning in the more regulated European markets or responding to ESG ratings requiring EU-standardised methodologies, and for a qualitative biodiversity evaluation.
What you get: OEF Report with 16 environmental impact categories analysed
Standards: EU OEF Guide · ISO 14044 · EF 3.1

Design your strategy: EPD, Eco-design and Sustainability Roadmap Consulting
From data to decisions.
From analysis to action.
We want to use sustainability as a strategic lever, not just a response to a request.
Measuring is necessary. It is not sufficient. Environmental data has strategic value only when it drives decisions: which materials to choose, where to invest over the next three years, how to reduce impact without reducing performance. These services transform the outputs of environmental assessments into concrete actions — and where possible, into defensible competitive advantages.

EPD consulting: Environmental Product Declaration – ISO 14025
The third-party verified environmental product declaration. It is the tool that turns LCA data into credible communication — internationally recognised, usable in Green Public Procurement, required by European buyers and shipyards with structured sustainable procurement policies.
SEA InnovHub developed the world’s first EPD for a racing boat and the first PCR for the yachting sector. The reference standard is ISO 14025, the international standard defining the principles and procedures for publishing Type III environmental product declarations. Verified communication with zero greenwashing risk. Alessandro Bordignon is qualified as a PCR Moderator for the International EPD System — one of the few professionals in Italy with this qualification in the maritime and yachting sector. We know the rules because we write them.
What you get: Verified and published EPD · B2B and B2C communication materials · Digital Product Passport ready
Standards: ISO 14025 · Sector-specific PCR · GPI EPD International

Zero Pathway: Net zero consulting Carbon Neutrality Plan
Starting from existing GHG inventory data or product Carbon Footprint results, Zero Pathway builds a verifiable action plan for emissions reduction — and, where direct reduction is not yet achievable, for credible compensation that is greenwashing-proof.
Not a statement of intent. An operational plan: which emissions to reduce, in what sequence, with what investments, over what timeframe. With a verifiable carbon neutrality statement for external communication.
What you get: Carbon Neutrality Plan · Selection criteria for ISO 14068-compliant offset credits · Verifiable statement for external communication
Standards: ISO 14068 · ISO 14064-2 · GHG Protocol Mitigation Goal Standard · IMO Decarbonisation Guidelines

Eco-design Clinic
An intensive working session with the company’s technical team. Starting from existing LCA data or a dedicated short study, we identify improvement opportunities: material selection, process optimisation, waste reduction, design for disassembly. A practical, results-oriented approach — not theory.
The Eco-design Clinic is also a training session for the technical team: designers, procurement managers and R&D leads leave with a clear map of environmental hotspots and the tools to address them independently.
What you get: Eco-design report with prioritised opportunities · Implementation action plan · Internal team training
Standards: ISO 14062 · Ecodesign Directive · Circular Economy Principles

Sustainability Roadmap
A multi-year strategic roadmap that integrates environmental assessment results with business objectives, regulatory timelines (EU ETS, CSRD, FuelEU) and market opportunities. Defines goals, KPIs, responsibilities and required investments in a format presentable to the Board and to investors.
What you get: 3–5 year Sustainability Roadmap · KPI dashboard · Sustainability investment plan · Board and investor presentation
Standards: Science Based Targets (SBTi) · SDG framework · EU Taxonomy · CSRD

Circular Design Assessment
Analysis of circular economy opportunities for products and processes: design for longevity, repairability, material reuse. Particularly relevant for shipyards and component manufacturers who want to anticipate circularity regulations and meet Digital Product Passport requirements.
What you get: Circular Assessment Report · Materials matrix with reusability analysis · Implementation roadmap
Standards: ISO 59000 · Digital Product Passport

Advanced Modules: for those who want to lead the market
These tools integrate with core services when your market — or your ambition — demands more. They are for companies entering international tenders with advanced ESG requirements, for suppliers to European shipyards with structured sustainable procurement policies, for those building a competitive advantage that lasts.
S-LCA: Social Life Cycle Assessment
Sustainability is not only carbon. S-LCA evaluates working conditions, human rights, health and safety, and the impact on local communities throughout the supply chain. Increasingly required by shipyards and shipowners with structured ESG policies and by the social component of CSRD reporting.
What you get: S-LCA Report · Social risk map by stakeholder category · Supply chain recommendations · Contribution to sustainability report
Standards: UNEP SLCA Guidelines 2020 · Social Hotspots Database (SHDB) · GRI Standards
PEF Compliance: Product Environmental Footprint
The European Commission is introducing the Digital Product Passport. The PEF framework is the prerequisite for the Green Claims Directive and for positioning in the most regulated European markets. Aligning your LCA to the PEF methodology now means not having to redo everything when it becomes mandatory.
If you manufacture batteries or storage systems: the Battery Regulation deadline is already within your planning horizon. Contact us. (For battery and energy storage manufacturers, deadline Q1 2027). The Battery Passport regulation is calling. Are you ready?
What you get: PEF-compliant study
Standards: EU PEF Guide · Sector-specific PEFCR · EF 3.1 · Green Claims Directive
Biodiversity Impact Assessment
Assessment of biodiversity impacts across the life cycle of products and processes. Relevant for companies operating in marine protected areas, for those who want to anticipate biodiversity regulations (EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030), or to respond to ESG ratings that are integrating a nature component alongside climate.
What you get: Biodiversity Report · Risk hotspot identification · Statement for stakeholders and investors
Standards: TNFD framework · PEF/OEF · GRI

Build internal capability:
Academy, SMaaS and Sustain Engine
Sustainability is not a project.
It’s a business function.
I don’t have the internal time or expertise to manage all of this.
You can do a Carbon Footprint this year and forget about it next year, rediscovering methodologies, data providers and deadlines from scratch every time. Or you can build the internal structure to update it, manage it and use it independently, year after year. This third level is designed to do exactly that.

SUSTAIN ENGINE: The Continuous Production System
SUSTAIN ENGINE is the organisational response to the growing, recurring need for LCA studies, Carbon Footprints, EPDs, GHG inventories and verified Green Claims. Not a single project — a structured management system that standardises processes, trains internal teams and transfers permanent capabilities to the organisation.
When a company receives its fifth environmental data request in a year, the answer cannot be “let’s start from scratch”. SUSTAIN ENGINE turns it into a routine operation — fast, verifiable, consistent.
What you get: Management system (certifiable) + integrated calculation tool, independently updatable
Standards: EPD process · CFP systematic approach · GHG Protocol · ISO 14064-1

SEA InnovHub Academy: Technical Training for the Maritime and Yachting Sector
Training programme on sustainability tools for technicians, designers, procurement managers, commercial and management teams in the maritime and yachting sector. Available in synchronous (in-company workshops), asynchronous and one-to-one or group coaching formats.
The goal is not a one-day awareness session. It’s to transform your team members into Sustainability Ambassadors: people who can respond to a Scope 3 request, who can read an LCA and understand the assumptions behind it, who can assess whether a green claim is defensible or greenwashing.
Topics: LCA · GHG Protocol · Eco-design · EU Maritime Regulations (FuelEU, CSRD, EU ETS, Green Claims Directive)
Formats: In-company workshops · Distance learning · One-to-one coaching
Outputs: Certificate of participation · Access to materials · Training tailored to company context

SMaaS: Sustainability Manager as a Service
You’re an SME. You don’t have a sustainability department. You need an expert management of your sustainability reporting. You have someone managing quality, someone else handling procurement, and no one coordinating everything when environmental requests come in. The requests come anyway. So do the deadlines.
With SMaaS, SEA InnovHub operates as your external Sustainability Manager with three levels of engagement based on what you need:
Assistance — Fast response to client and buyer questionnaires. When the request arrives, someone knows what to answer within real deadlines.
Temporary Management — A dedicated Sustainability Manager who enters your operations: attends board meetings when needed, guides ESG strategy, coordinates measurement and reporting projects. Not a consultant who drops in once a month — part of your team.
Representation — Technical support during calls with investors, banks or external stakeholders. When you need to present your environmental data to people asking hard questions, you have someone alongside you who knows the answers.

Want to build internal sustainability capability?
Let’s start with a conversation.
For Challenges That Seem Impossible.
High complexity. High added value.
This problem has no solution. We haven’t found anyone who has already solved it in the way that actually works for us.
Some clients arrive with a challenge that doesn’t fit any category. It’s not a standard Carbon Footprint. It’s not a product LCA. It’s something more complex — often without precedent in the sector. Integrating environmental requirements into a multi-year contract already signed. Developing the first LCA for a technology that has never been measured before. Building the first category standard for a new maritime product or one using new technologies.
These challenges share one characteristic: they have no standard template. They require thinking and strategy. A unique project for a unique result.
We don’t start with a proposal. We start with a dialogue with you and your team.
In-depth, without commitment, without rush. We want to understand the real problem before suggesting any solution. Only then do we build the path together: bespoke methodologies, partnerships with universities and research centers, defensible technical documentation in front of any technical, financial or institutional counterpart.
